The Blues have established their latest contingency plan following a fresh injury worry.

Star centre Stephen Crichton limped off the field after a training session at Ballymore on Monday.

He was also spotted sporting either thick padding or ice on his left thigh.

As a result, Matt Burton is "on standby" to potentially fill the 18th man spot, per 9 News' Danny Weidler.

Burton – a former premiership winner at the Panthers with Crichton – was not initially drafted into Laurie Daley's NSW squad.

Campbell Graham, meanwhile, is in line to slot into the centres if 'Critta' is forced to withdraw.

An injury to the Bulldogs captain would be a huge blow to the Blues.

He has notably played in every Origin clash since his debut in 2022.

NSW teammate Connor Watson, however, isn't overly concerned with Crichton's fitness.

"He's all good, just had a bit of ice on his quad," he said.

"Little cork, maybe, but he's all good. He'll be right.

"I think it's a cork, so he will be good. You can ice them up, get a bit of heat into them, and you'll be sweet."
