The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have officially opened contract extension talks wth Jake and Tom Trbojevic, aiming to keep the star brothers on the Northern Beaches beyond their current deals, which run until the end of the 2026 NRL season.

Sea Eagles CEO Tony Mestrov has initiated discussions with the Trbojevic brothers' manager to explore long-term extensions, as Manly look to avoid the kind of messy departure that recently unfolded with former captain Daly Cherry-Evans.

Both Jake and Tom have been cornerstones of the club for over a decade, and Manly are eager to ensure they remain one-club players.

Despite the urgency from the club, Tom Trbojevic is not rushing into a decision about his playing future.

The Manly fullback, who has battled a string of injuries in recent years, has made it clear he does not want the club to feel pressured into offering him an extension.

Tom Trbojevic has told those close to him that he would be open to a move to the Super League in 2027 if it was in the best interest for the Sea Eagles for him to leave the club and if his contract impacted Manly's ability to retain other key players, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The loyalty runs deep with the Trbojevic brothers. In 2023, he requested to take a $750,000 salary cut over two seasons to alleviate the club's salary cap pressure - a proposal that was rejected by the NRL.

Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles are also preparing to offer Jake Trbojevic a one-year extension worth approximately $500,000 to $550,000.

Jake, who is also on a back-ended contract, would likely need to take a very significant pay cut to stay at the club.

The veteran forward has echoed his brother's loyalty and made it clear he couldn't see himself wearing another NRL jersey.

“It just wouldn’t happen,” Jake Trbojevic said about the prospect of playing against the Sea Eagles in the aftermath of Cherry-Evans’ decision to leave Manly.

“I couldn’t do it, personally. People do that, but no, I definitely couldn’t imagine it. You never say never. We never thought Glenn Stewart would leave the club, [even though] he got forced out. We never thought Cherry-Evans would leave the club," the Manly forward said.

“Right now, my answer would be no. I love this club; it means the world to me. I’ve been here since I was 14 in junior development,” he said.
