This may be the only time you’ll ever see WWE and AEW exchange vows in any way, shape or form, though one can never say never (hi, WCW). In a moment that breaks kayfabe for a worthy cause, WWE superstar Rhea Ripley and AEW superstar Buddy Matthews tied the knot this week in what looked to be a gorgeous ceremony.

Of course, the entire WWE universe immediately began wondering what “Dirty” er … um … “Daddy” … er … um … Dominik Mysterio felt about the situation, considering his torrid on-screen drama involving WWE Women's Champion Liv Morgan.
Given Ripley is Mami to Mysterio on camera, and leader of The Judgment Day, it was a rightful curiosity.
But, again, moments like this require a breaking of kayfabe, and Dom didn’t hesitate to send his well wishes to the happy couple.

This marks the very first marriage between wrestlers in WWE and AEW — the two promotions locked in a bitter feud that harkens back to the days of “Monday Night Wars”, though Matthews himself operated within the WWE (where the two likely met) from 2013 through 2021, later joining AEW in 2022 in the House of Black faction.
Ripley, one of the biggest global wrestling superstars on the planet, is currently thriving in WWE despite being sidelined with a shoulder injury until further notice.
But while she heals her body, Matthews is taking care of her heart.
