The Miz reveals new opponents he wants to face in WWE, asks for one last match with John Cena, shares strong thoughts on Karrion Kross’s rise image

The Miz has been filming the new American Gladiators reboot, so he’s been out of action in the WWE for a bit.

But when the “Awesome One” returns, he’d like to face the new generation of superstars. He specifically called out Bron Breakker and Dominik Mysterio by name.

The Miz also put it out there that he wants a crack at John Cena during his retirement tour.

“All the new guys,” the Miz told me at the 2025 American Century Championship. “All the NXT superstars, you know, Braun Breaker, Dom, all the new and upcoming superstars that I have not wrestled yet. Those are the people I want. And John Cena. I want to put my hand up. John Cena. One last match.”

The Miz and Cena wrestled in the main event of WrestleMania 27 from Atlanta. Cena teamed up with the Rock in his first match back in a WWE ring in seven years against the Miz and R-Truth at Survivor Series later that year.

The two later squared off at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. Maryse, the Miz's wife, was in his corner. Cena proposed to his then-girlfriend Nikki Bella after a victory.

There’s plenty of history. The call-out makes sense on every level.

As for Breakker and Mysterio, they’re on the Raw brand, while the Miz is on SmackDown at the moment. During the next WWE draft, it’s very possible the A-Lister can get his wish. He just may need backup, considering Mysterio has the Judgement Day and Breakker has Seth Rollins and Bronson Reed in his corner.

I also asked the Miz about Karrion Kross’s rise in popularity after the two worked together in 2024.

The Miz loves seeing Kross organically earn the WWE Universe’s approval.

“Let him rise. Let him rise, man,” the Miz said. “I always look at it like he's his homegrown, right? He didn't run, he did things his own way, and he does his job in making the fans love him for his hard, hard work.”

About the 2025 American Century Championship

The American Century Championship will air from Friday to Sunday on NBC, Peacock, and the GOLF Channel. The Miz is one of over 90 athletes and celebrities in the annual mid-July golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe in Stateline, Nevada.
