EuroBasket 2025 has concluded, and that means players who departed the WNBA to represent their home countries will be returning to the league — and that there will be a wave of athletes who subsequently lose their roster spot in the league.

On Wednesday, July 2, the Los Angeles Sparks announced the return of Julie Allemand, and then announced the departure of Odyssey Sims. Though she had missed several games due to personal reasons, many fans were still surprised to see Sims go.

Sims played 12 games for the Sparks this season and started in 11 of those games. She averaged 9.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, making her the team's fifth-leading scorer — something else that also makes the cut all the more confusing.

The Sparks did not provide any further details about the decision, and Sims has not offered an explanation on her end.
