WNBA legend Cynthia Cooper didn’t hold back when asked about Caitlin Clark on the All The Smoke podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. Rather than sticking to a single word to describe the standout rookie, Cooper gave a full endorsement of Clark’s talent and impact.

Cooper, a two-time NCAA champion with USC and four-time WNBA champion with the Houston Comets, is firmly in the GOAT conversation. She was named WNBA Finals MVP four years in a row and led international leagues in scoring eight times. When someone with that résumé speaks, the basketball world listens.

Asked to sum up Clark in just one word, Cooper couldn't contain her admiration:
“Amazing. A beast. She is the truth,” Cooper said. “And she was a rookie.”

She went on to detail what makes Clark special including her ability to knock down deep threes, get to the rim, draw fouls and involve her teammates. “She’s crafty,” Cooper added.

“She is the complete basketball player,” Cooper said, highlighting Clark’s high basketball IQ and versatility.

Looking ahead to the WNBA All-Star festivities, Cooper made a fan-worthy request, “I want to see Sabrina Ionescu shoot against Caitlin Clark” in the three-point contest — a matchup fans would love to see.

With praise like that from one of the game’s legends, it’s clear Caitlin Clark’s impact on the league is already being felt and celebrated.
