By now most WNBA fans are aware of the drama that unfolded at Gainbridge Fieldhouse toward the end of the third quarter of the Indiana Fever's home opener against the Chicago Sky: as Angel Reese was going for a shot, Caitlin Clark reached for the ball over her head and pushed Reese to the ground.

The resulting fallout has been swift and furious. The WNBA and the Fever are investigating claims that racist comments were hurled at Reese during the game; both Reese and Clark have insisted the foul was just basketball.

A fan shared a video on X Sunday that shows what transpired just before Clark's foul: it appears Reese elbowed Clark's teammate Natasha Howard in the back, presumably to make room so she could snag the rebound. Clark saw the elbow and gestured toward the refs, and then saw Reese grab the ball and knocked it out of her hands.

The video underscores what both Reese and Clark have said: this is basketball. This moment will continue to be discussed for weeks to come, and it's worth looking at every part of it to get a true understanding of what did (and did not) happen on the court.
