The Indiana Fever have officially waived DeWanna Bonner, Indy Star reporter Chloe Peterson reported Wednesday, a day after Annie Costabile reported Bonner was not hoping to return to the team.

The Fever are also resigning fan favorite Aari McDonald, and the release of Bonner will free up more cap space for the team.

"The Fever are waiving DeWanna Bonner, league sources told IndyStar, then re-signing Aari McDonald," Peterson wrote on X. "Bonner requested a trade after feeling she couldn’t find a role on the team, sources said, but Indiana could not find a suitable trade option."

Costabile previously reported Bonner was hoping to be traded to the Phoenix Mercury, where her partner Alyssa Thomas plays, or the Atlanta Dream.

The Fever and Bonner have not commented on the matter.
