Dawn Staley weighs on on Clark-Reese rivalry — before Sky's big loss Saturday image

South Carolina Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley definitely knows a lot about basketball. The former WNBA star and Olympian has joined CBS as a WNBA analyst this season, and was on hand ahead of the Indiana Fever's game against the Chicago Sky Saturday.

Staley was asked about her opinion of the so-called rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese before the game started. "It's a rivalry in which I like to see these two teams play against each other," she said. "Whoever wins, it's a toss up. So for me, yeah. Let's call it a rivalry."

The Sky went on to lose 79-52, their second big loss against the Fever and their first without Clark on the court. The team also suffered the loss of veteran leader Courtney Vandersloot, who exited the game with five minutes left in the first quarter after injuring her right knee.

It's unclear if Staley would still call the dynamic between the two teams a rivalry, but perhaps only time will tell.
