By the time he is completely finished competing, Spencer Lee's resume will be long enough to fill an entire room. But even as he continues in his pursuit of Olympic gold, the former Iowa Hawkeye standout is being honored.
Lee, who is set to compete for a spot on the 2025 U.S. World Team this Saturday at Final X, was recently inducted into the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League Hall of Fame.
Joining Lee in the 2025 class are 14 others including former NFL players Ty Law and Russ Grimm.
Lee, who competed at Franklin Regional, went 144-1 in his career on the mats. He captured four WPIAL championships and was a three-time state wrestling champion.
Ranked No. 1 throughout his high school career, Lee won the U17 world championship and the U20 world championship twice. He posted a record of 95-6 as a Hawkeye, claiming three Big Ten and three NCAA Div. I championships.
Lee was the silver medalist at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics at 57kg for the United States, having also won gold at the 2019 and '23 U.S. Senior Nationals and the 2024 Pan American Championships.
At Final X from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, Lee will face off with Luke Lilledahl in a best-of-three series.
