Sadly, California high school softball season is down to its last two days.
Saturday brings 10 regional softball championships across the state, eight of which are already locked in. In two divisions, NorCal Division IV (San Leandro vs. Aptos) and SoCal Division II (Westlake vs. Eastlake), Friday brings a semifinal on one side of the bracket.
The clash of Westlake (20-14) vs. Eastlake (21-11-1) just sounds prophesied to be a good game. How could "Westlake vs. Eastlake" not be entertaining? Especially when the teams enter with similar records and a regional championship appearance on the line.

One might expect Westlake and Eastlake to be crosstown (or cross-lake) rivals that have already played each other a handful of times. However, these schools are nowhere near each other. Eastlake travels up to Ventura County from Chula Vista, a drive that's upwards of 170 miles each way, with Eastlake already possessing a long-distance victory over Bakersfield Christian and Westlake already having downed a visitor from the San Diego Section (Rancho Bernardo) in the quarterfinals.
The winner plays El Cajon Christian (24-8-1), which defeated Eastlake 7-2 on Mar. 27, on Saturday in the finals.
