It may be spring, but that doesn't mean football isn't in play. The flag football season is nearing its conclusion in New York the state championships on tap.
The sport is a recent addition to high school athletics in New York, with last year being the first year of state competitions. Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK won the 2024 Division I title, while Bishop Kearney won Division II.
The tournament returns to Cortland, New York. The semifinals will be played at both Cortland High School and Homer High School. Additionally, there are three championships, divided by Class A, B and C this year.
Flag football is growing, and this is just another step in the right direction for the sport. Three teams will earn state glory this year.
