The 2025 high school baseball playoffs are underway in nearly every state across the country as teams look to make their move toward securing their ultimate goal.
IMG Academy (Florida), the nation's top team in our latest rankings, has seen their season come to an end as a non-participant in the Florida state playoffs. The Ascenders played one of the nation's top schedules as usual and only slipped up against No. 14 South Walton during this season.
No. 2 Stoneman Douglas (Florida), No. 3 Etowah (Georgia) and No. 4 Corona (California) are participating in three of the toughest playoff gauntlets that the nation has to offer. Stoneman Douglas and Etowah have reached the semifinal round of their respective playoffs while Corona will learn their playoff seeding on Monday before getting started on their trek to repeat later in the week.
Here's a look at the top 25 high school baseball teams in the country.

1. IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida) 24-1
Previously: 2
The Ascenders completed their season in late April, winning 11 to close out the regular season. IMG, who does not participate in the Florida State playoffs, handed St. John’s (Washington, DC) their only loss of the season.
2. Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Florida) 29-2
Previously: 8
Stoneman Douglas has rattled off eight straight wins to find themselves back in the Florida 7A State semifinals. The Eagles rallied with four runs in the final inning on Thursday to beat West Broward, 8-7, wrapping up the two-game sweep.
3. Etowah (Georgia) 34-2
Previously: 11
Etowah has won 12 straight games, sweeping through their six playoff games so far. They outscored Parkview 21-1 in last week’s playoff series, earning a spot against Lowndes in this week’s Georgia AAAAAA State semifinal round.
4. Corona (California) 26-2
Previously: 1
Corona has scored 90 runs in seven games since dropping a 1-0 league matchup against Santiago. The CIF Southern Section will release playoff brackets on Monday.
5. Puyallup (Washington) 23-0
Previously: 7
Puyallup sits unbeaten with the playoffs still to come later this month. Senior Mason Pike is hitting .500 while also holding a 0.28 ERA in 50 innings on the mound.
6. Buchholz (Gainesville, Florida) 32-2
Previously: 13
Buchholz rebounded after dropping the opening game of last week’s playoff series against Pace. The Bobcats won 11-2 and 5-4 in eight innings to clinch a spot against Wharton in the Florida 6A State semifinals.
7. Calallen (Corpus Christi) 30-2
Previously: 10
The Wildcats have outscored their opponents by 296 runs heading into the Texas 4A D1 regional semis against Uvalde. Those games will begin on Saturday.
8. Trinity Christian (Jacksonville, Florida) 29-4
Previously: 14
Trinity Christian took both games from Bozeman in last week’s regional finals, winning 10-9 in game two. They’ll take on Berkeley Prep in the Florida 2A State semifinals.
9. Bishop Verot (Fort Myers, Florida) 32-2
Previously: 15
Bishop Verot dropped the opening game against Calvary Christian in the recent round of playoffs before clinching the series with two one-run victories. The Vikings will face Miami Springs in Florida’s 3A State semifinal round on May 19.
10. St. John’s (Washington, DC) 30-1
Previously: NR
St. John’s wrapped up their season on Saturday, sweeping both games from Paul VI in the championship series of the Washington Catholic League. Their lone loss this season came on the road against top-ranked IMG Academy in March.
11. Owasso (Oklahoma) 39-2
Previously: 18
After winning three regional playoff games last week, Owasso enters the state championship bracket now. They’ll open up in the eight-team bracket against Choctaw on Thursday afternoon.
12. Pleasant Grove (Texas) 30-4
Previously: 19
Pleasant Grove has allowed one run across four playoff games. The Texas 4A D1 regional semifinal round against Panther Creek begins on Thursday.
13. Houston County (Warner Robins, Georgia) 31-5
Previously: NR
Houston County has won 13 straight games and owns a 5-1 win at Etowah from early April. The Bears begin a three-game series against Loganville on Tuesday in the Georgia AAAAA State semifinal round.
14. South Walton (Santa Rosa Beach, Florida) 30-3
Previously: 22
South Walton owns a win over IMG Academy from earlier in the season and has won 20 straight including five of their past seven by shutout. Given the top seed in the Florida 3A State semifinals, they’ll take on Hernando on May 19.
15. Memorial (Houston, Texas) 29-3-1
Previously: NR
The Mustangs have needed four games to sweep through their first two playoff series. They’ll take on Kingwood in the UIL 6A D2 regional semis this week.
16. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, California) 23-4
Previously: NR
St. John Bosco captured the Trinity League title at 14-1, beating second place Orange Lutheran by four games. They’ve won low scoring games with excellent pitching and defense, surrendering 51 runs over 27 games.
17. Aquinas (San Bernardino, California) 25-2
Previously: 23
Aquinas has won 10 straight games going back to early April. Their Southern Section playoff run will begin this week with brackets set to be released on Monday.
18. Live Oak (Watson, Louisiana) 31-6
Previously: NR
Live Oak handled Benton to make their way to the Louisiana Division 1 Non-Select title. They’ll face off against Sam Houston this upcoming week.
19. Hagerty (Oviedo, Florida) 29-6-1
Previously: NR
Hagerty has needed to play three games in each of their three playoff series to date. They’ll face off with Jupiter in the Florida 7A State semifinals later this week with Stoneman Douglas and Alonso on the other side of the bracket.
20. Huntington Beach (California) 24-4
Previously: 5
Following a surprising series loss to Newport Harbor, Huntington Beach closed out the regular season with five strong victories. They’ll learn their path in the Southern Section playoffs on Monday morning.
21. Orange Lutheran (California) 22-6
Previously: NR
The Lancers won 11 of their final 13 regular season games after getting swept by St. John Bosco in Trinity League play. They’ll learn their playoff fate on Monday morning.
22. Conway (Arkansas) 25-1
Previously: NR
Conway dropped their first game of the season to Cabot, 6-5 but have bounced back with 23 runs in their two games since, beating North Little Rock and Jonesboro.
23. Crespi (Encino, California) 22-2
Previously: NR
Crespi captured the Mission League, beating second place Harvard-Westlake by two games in the standings. They’ll learn their playoff seeding on Monday.
24. Sam Houston (Lake Charles, Louisiana) 37-7
Previously: NR
Sam Houston has won eight straight games after sweeping two one-run games from Barbe last week. They’ll play for the Louisiana Division 1 Non-Select championship on May 15.
25. Lutheran South Academy (Houston, Texas) 32-3-1
Previously: NR
The Pioneers won their two playoff games by a combined score of 26-0 last week. They’ve allowed 48 runs over 36 games on the season.
