Since coming on board with Iowa State football, head coach Matt Campbell has built a program that can both compete in the present and look towards the future at the same time.
That is exactly what the Cyclones are doing as they move closer and closer to the start of the 2025 season with a trip to Ireland to play Big 12 Conference rival Kansas State.
Earlier this week, Campbell and Iowa State received a huge commitment from 6-foot-7 senior-to-be Pete Eglitis. According to Cyclone Fanatic, Eglitis selected the Cyclones over offers from defending national champion Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan State, Wisconsin and a host of others.
The native of Columbus, Ohio will leave Buckeye nation, bringing his 285-pound offensive lineman body with him to Ames, Iowa. The Cyclones are coming off a program-best 11 wins last season, including a bowl victory and a trip to the conference title game.
Eglitis is regarded as a three-star prospect and ranks in the Top 100 for all high school players in Ohio according to 247Sports. He made a visit to the campus of Iowa State earlier this month.
The commitment of Eglitis is the 13th in the Class of 2026 for the Cyclones. He is the third offensive linemen in the group.
