An Ohio state softball championship is on the line Saturday night.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association’s softball championships in Division III will take place Saturday night in Akron at historic Firestone Stadium, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Saturday’s title game pits Dover against Holland Springfield.

Dover (27-3) posted a 7-0 win against Western Brown in Friday’s semifinal round, scoring six of those runs in the sixth which broke a scoreless tie. Ariana Immel went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, while Alli Hupp was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Kara Lint and Jenna Molk combined on a two-hit shutout, with Lint striking out 10 batters over five innings.

In the other Division III semifinal, Holland Springfield (23-9) bested Boardman, 3-1, breaking a 1-all score with two runs in the fourth. Camryn Hall was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and pitcher Callee Chappetta gave up six hits, striking out seven.

Friday night, Wheelersburg finished off a perfect 28-0 season with a 10-0 win against Baltimore Liberty Union for the Division V championship.

Ava Estep was 2-for-3 with a home run, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Jalynn Drake was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Kaylynn Carter threw a two-hit shutout over six innings, striking out nine.

On Sunday, three more state titles will be awarded with the Division VI, II and I championship contests.
