One of high school girls basketball's premier stars and college/professional prospects has cut her recruiting list to four.
McKenna Woliczko, a 5-star forward and rising senior at perennial national title contender Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, CA), announced on Thursday via X/Twitter that her college decision has been narrowed to South Carolina, USC, Ohio State, and Iowa. She is ranked sixth in the Class of 2026 by both ESPN HoopGurlz and 247Sports.
At upwards of 6-foot-2 with inside-out ball skills and impressive athleticism who can also bruise opposing bigs inside, Woliczko is the prototype of a modern power forward and a legitimate prospect at the center and small forward positions at well. She was named National Player of the Year for the Class of 2026 as both a freshman and sophomore for the Northern California champions, and she was off to an even better start for the Monarchs as a junior before tearing her ACL in January. Through nine games and a Nike TOC crown, she was averaging 22.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game on 64.6% shooting.
Woliczko also helped lead Team USA to U16 and U17 Gold Medals during the previous two summers, earning all-tournament honors both times.
In Woliczko's absence, the Monarchs still finished 27-4 (18-4 without her) against a national schedule, won sectional and regional CIF Open Division titles, and finished ranked inside the top 15 teams in the country. Archbishop Mitty is expected to bring back nearly every rotation player for the upcoming 2025-26 season and will surely return to national championship contention with a healthy return from Woliczko. Among the team's other top expected returners are senior wings Devin Cosgriff and Emma Cook, junior guards Ze'Ni Patterson and Tiera McCarthy, and sophomore post Maliya Hunter.
