One of the top quarterback prospects in Nebraska has apparently flipped his commitment. Jett Thomalla, a member of the Class of 2026, had committed to Matt Campbell and Iowa State earlier this year.
But after taking visits and discussing his options, the Omaha native has been flipped and will instead commit to Alabama according to a report by Andrew Bone of On3.
Regarded by On3 as one of the Top 15 quarterbacks in the nation, Thomalla has racked up over 6,000 yards in the air with 73 touchdowns while completing almost 65 percent of his passes the past two seasons at Millard South.
As a junior, Thomalla was named the MaxPreps Nebraska Player of the Year and first team All-Nebraska offensive captain after throwing for 3,664 yards and 47 touchdowns with 250 completions - all of which set new state records. He also racked up a state record 3,740 total yards.
When he made it known on social media earlier this year that he was committed to the Cyclones, he did so by picking them over offers from Iowa, Arizona, Missouri, Virginia Tech and a host of others. Alabama, though, was not among those at the time.
Since, Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide became interested, and the call of the SEC was too much for Thomalla to ignore. He is the first quarterback commit and sixth overall player for the Alabama 2026 class.
Thomalla, an Elite 11 finalist, is expected to visit Tuscaloosa this coming weekend.
