Led by University of Southern Cal commit Jonas Williams, the state of Illinois has some high-caliber prospects at the quarterback position set for action in 2025.
Williams, who plays for Lincoln-Way East, is one of the top quarterbacks in the country. He will be looking to end his career with a bang this coming fall in Illinois high school football.

Here is a look at some of the top quarterback prospects in 2025 in Illinois high school football:
Jonas Williams, Lincoln-Way East
A future Trojan for Lincoln Riley, Jonas Williams has all the tools to be a star in the Big Ten. He is 6-foot-1.5 and weighs over 200 pounds, leading Lincoln-Way East to a 12-1 record last year while racking up over 3,300 yards from scrimmage and 42 passing touchdowns with seven more on the ground.
Owen Lansu, Downers Grove North
In 2023, Owen Lansu led Downers Grove North to a runner-up finish at state. The future Minnesota Golden Gopher is 6-foor-2 and almost 200 pounds, as he committed to PJ Fleck back in June 2024. He has over 4,000 yards and 48 touchdowns over the past two years.
Johnny O'Brien, Fremd
Northwestern fans can get an early look at the future this fall, as Johnny O'Brien is a commit to the Wildcats. The 6-foot-3 Fremd standout threw for 3,442 yards with 39 touchdowns last year, completing almost 71 percent of his passes.
Trae Taylor, Carmel Cahtolic
The next Nebraska quarterback is currently over in Illinois, as Trae Taylor is one of the top 2027 players. The 6-foot-3 Taylor completed 68 percent of his passes as a sophomore for 3,061 yards with 20 touchdowns, adding 342 yards and four scores on the ground.
Israel Abrams, Montini Catholic
Checking in at 6-foot-4 with the pedigree of Montini Catholic, Israel Abrams is sure to turn some eyes this fall. While winning a state title as a sophomore, Abrams threw for over 2,000 yards and ran for 335 more, racking up 29 passing touchdowns and just three interceptions.
Jameson Purcell, Maine South
A junior-to-be, Jameson Purcell, has committed to play football at Indiana. Purcell, who is 6-foot-1 and almost 200 pounds, threw for over 2,500 yards with 30 touchdowns, completing 70 percent of his passes.
