Joe Husak is returning home to continue his college baseball career.

Husak, a former North Polk High School standout, has transferred to play at Iowa after spending the last two with Illinois State. The right-hander saw action in 33 games for the Redbirds, recording a 4-4 record with 11 saves in 60 innings and 48 strikeouts.

In 2024, Husak went 4-2 with six saves and 32 strikeouts, following that up with five saves in just under 17 innings pitched this past spring.

Husak began his college career at the junior college level with Des Moines Area. He went 6-4 with three complete games, striking out 52 batters in almost 66 innings for the Bears.

As a senior with North Polk, the 2021 graduate went 8-0 with 106 strikeouts in 60 innings pitched, recording a 0.35 earned run average. He originally committed to South Dakota State before winding up at Illinois State.

Over his four-year high school career, Husak went 22-4 while striking out 260 batters with five saves. He also hit .375 with three home runs and 10 doubles at the plate.
