The Big Ten Conference announced opponent rotations for wrestling for the coming season recently. And one of the marquee duals will take place inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.
Cael Sanderson and defending national champion Penn State will visit the Iowa Hawkeyes during the year. Along with the Nittany Lions, Iowa will host Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
As for road duals, those include trips to Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State and Purdue.
Last year, the Hawkeyes went 14-1 overall and 7-1 in the league, with the lone loss being a 30-8 setback to Penn State on the road. They were 7-0 at home and have won 25 of 27 inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena over the last four years.
Iowa finished fourth at the NCAA Division I Championships last winter with 81 points. Stephen Buchanan II won the 197-pound title while Drake Ayala placed second for a second consecutive season.
Penn State scored 177 points to finish ahead of Nebraska and Oklahoma State. The Hawkeyes were ahead of Big Ten rivals Minnesota and Ohio State in the final standings.
Tom Brands and the Hawkeyes hit the transfer portal hard this offseason, adding several key pieces to try and compete with the Nittany Lions. That includes Dean Peterson, Nasir Bailey, Jordan Williams and Harvey Ludington to pair with the likes of Ayala, Michael Caliendo, Patricky Kennedy, Angelo Ferrari, Gabe Arnold and Ben Kueter.
