The Tennessee Volunteers football program closed out the 2024 season strong, winning six of its last seven games and making the playoffs with a 10-3 record. It got destroyed by eventual National Champion Ohio State, though, and since had to reset after losing QB Nico Iamaleava to UCLA.
Still, this is a perennial powerhouse of a program for a reason, and Josh Heupel will have his squad ready to go for the start of the 2025 season. The Vols are returning 13 starters — five on offense, eight on defense — and they will likely be in good hands with App State transfer Joey Aguilar at QB. Aguilar led the FCS with 273 passing yards per game in 2024.

Tennessee enjoyed a strong recruiting year, as always, ranking No. 11 in the nation and No. 8 in the SEC. Expect another solid rushing year for the Vols, who went 8-0 when running for 185 yards or more in the 2024 campaign.

The 2025-26 college football season kicks off for Tennessee on Saturday, Aug. 30. The Vols will host eight games at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN, while going on the road for four games.
