The second leg of Vampire Weekend's "Only God Was Above Us" is set to begin. Due to overwhelming demand, the band will play several shows in September, including a run in New Jersey.
The four-day run in Montclair is close to home for lead singer and New York-born Ezra Koenig. Koenig’s high school band, The Sophisticuffs, will open the shows.
“Sophisticuffs was a Glen Ridge, NJ band active from roughly 1999-2002,” Vampire Weekend said on Instagram. “Ezra was a member ages 15-17 along with his good friends Wes, Steve, Dan and Andrei… Ezra is thrilled to reunite onstage with the band for the first time since high school.”
