UNC has been one of the most heavily-discussed programs in college football since eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Belichick became North Carolina's head coach in late 2024. Now, after what seems like the most anticipated offseason in UNC football history, it's time to actually play some football.

The Tar Heels open their season at home against TCU on Labor Day, a primetime Monday night game that will air nationally on ESPN. This game has everything going for it – Belichick's first game as a college football head coach, a standalone holiday night game, with no other FBS games schedule on 9/1, and it's all just days before the NFL's season-opener.

Needless to say, the vast majority of the sporting world will be watching this football game. So, why not head down to Chapel Hill and watch it in person at Kenan Stadium? It's one of the highest-demand games of 2025 for a reason, as Belichick is arguably the greatest football coach of all time and the Tar Heels have a damn-good team entering this season.

UNC has 70 newcomers on its roster, including 40 transfers and 30 freshmen, so Belichick certainly has his hands full. But the man who led the Patriots to six Super Bowl wins as a head coach seems to have a pretty firm grasp on his role at Chapel Hill.

Oddsmakers are already sold, projecting the Tar Heels to finish with eight wins after a disappointing 6-7 season under Mack Brown last year. No matter what happens this time around, UNC should be a weekly must-watch all season.

Want to experience the inaugural game of the Bill Belichick Tar Heels in person? Here's everything you need to know about UNC vs. TCU on Labor Day 2025, including kickoff time as well as links to the best and cheapest tickets.
