LeBron James, Luka Doncic and the Lakers open the 2025-26 NBA season against Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler and the Warriors in Los Angeles. It will be a star-studded end to the Association's opening day festivities.
All the season-opening action will be featured on NBC, which has not aired NBA coverage since the 2001-02 season. So, needless to say, there's a lot going on with this fantastic primetime matchup. In fact, only about three percent of tickets remain for this Crypto.com Arena showdown as of Aug. 11.
It's no big surprise that this game has been one of the hottest tickets of the entire summer. Bron and Curry, frenemies at this point of their illustrious careers, have eight championship rings between them. They went head-to-head in four straight NBA Finals from 2015 through 2018. They've captained opposing All-Star teams and been All-Star teammates three times. They won Olympic Gold as teammates last summer.
Now, after James' Lakers landed Doncic and Curry's Warriors acquired Butler in a frenzied trade deadline last season, both LA and Golden State are considered title contenders once again. If their last two regular-season matchups are any indicator, opening night should be a banger of a game.

When these squads met in early February — even before Luka made his debut in LA and Butler landed in Golden State — LeBron put up 42 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Lakers to a 120-112 win over the Warriors. Curry had 37 points in defeat. Then, in April, the Dubs got vengeance, putting up another 37 to out-duel LeBron (who scored 33) and prevail 123-116. Frenemies, indeed.
