With the proposed Villarreal vs Barcelona La Liga match potentially being set at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami this December, Real Madrid has made an official statement regarding the match.

With the club presidents of Villarreal and Barcelona suggesting that this proposal can improve La Liga, Real Madrid's statement states the complete opposite.

Not only does Real Madrid disapprove of La Liga allowing the match to be held in the United States, but Los Blancos plan to stop the proposal from being accepted by organizations like FIFA and UEFA.

FIFA and UEFA have yet to approve the match between Villarreal and Barcelona to be played in Miami, which is needed for La Liga to confirm the match location change.

This Real Madrid complaint may be considered, with the club planning on challenging old rules from 2018 that is against holding official league matches abroad.

Real Madrid's Official Statement on La Liga Games Abroad

The Villarreal vs Barcelona game in Miami would be the first official Premier League game to be held abroad. Many fans do not agree with the proposal of the match being played away from Spain, and Real Madrid's statement could prevent it.

Real Madrid statement: "Real Madrid C.F. would like to make it clear to its members, supporters, and football fans in general that it firmly rejects the proposal to play the National First Division League Championship match between Villarreal C.F. and F.C. Barcelona on match day 17 outside Spain."

The club reveals that the match proposed was without consultation from the rest of the La Liga teams, including Real Madrid. Every season, all 20 teams play each other twice, in each team's respective stadiums.

This new proposal will affect Villarreal's 19 home games and 19 away games, as the match in December was scheduled to be at El Submarino Amarillo's Estadio de la Ceramica.

Real Madrid statement: "The measure, which was taken without prior information or consultation of the clubs participating in the competition, infringes the essential principle of territorial reciprocity, which applies in two-legged league competitions (one match at home and the other at the home of the opposing team), upsetting the competitive balance and giving an undue sporting advantage to the applicant clubs."

Real Madrid's plan to stop the Villarreal-Barcelona game in the U.S. involves requesting FIFA not to authorize the match. The club will plan to request UEFA to urge the Spanish Football Federation to withdraw and deny the proposal.

The last step would be to send a request to the Spanish High Sports Council not to grant the necessary administrative authorization without such unanimous consent.
