Wrexham have kept no stone unturned to compete with the top teams in the Championship this season after their historic back-to-back-to-back promotions to England's second tier football league.

They have invested their money in smart deals and have added some talented players who are bolstering their ranks in their quest to compete in the Championship this season.

In that quest, according to journalist Anthony Joseph, Wrexham are all set to sign Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town for a whopping club record transfer fee of £10m.

The Wales international, who has helped Ipswich Town gain back-to-back promotions, will now be a part of the journey for the Dragons as the deal is reportedly sealed with the winger completing his medical before he will be officially unveiled as a Wrexham player.

Interestingly, Broadhead was a part of the Wrexham youth academy when he was ten years old and now he is returning home.

This is a step in the right direction for Wrexham as the 27-year-old understands the values of the club and importance of this journey that they have embarked on.

As per reports, Broadhead could be unveiled before Wrexham's next Championship fixture against West Brom on Saturday afternoon.

The Dragons have had a bumpy start to the Championship 2025/26 campaign with a last-minute defeat against Southampton followed by a win against Hull City in the EFL Cup first round on penalties after the match ended in a 3-3 draw.

Why did Wrexham break the bank for Ipswich star Broadhead?

Broadhead will be Wrexham's ninth signing of the summer and also the most expensive of them all, beating their previous club record of slightly in excess of £3m, which they paid for midfielder Lewis O'Brien.

The 27-year-old winger who started his professional career with Everton comes to Stock Cae Ras with a lot of experience having played for clubs like Ipswich, Burton Albion, Sunderland and Wigan Athletic.

Broadhead is known for his versatility as he can slot in on either flank with aplomb and also play as false nine upfront if needed. He will add pace, creativity and goals to Phil Parkinson's setup.

The winger will have the company of other Wales internationals in Keiffer Moore and Danny Ward at Wrexham and the fans will hope that he adapts to his new surroundings as early as possible.

Broadhead has featured 14 times for Wales, scoring two goals, one of them came on his debut, a 93rdminute equalizer in a Euro 2024 qualifying fixture against Croatia back in 2023.

Since joining Ipswich Town in January 2023, he has netted 23 goals and provided 12 assists in 84 matches. He also comes with Premier League experience as he scored twice in 18 league games last season.

Broadhead will join the likes of Ryan Hardie, Josh Windass, Conor Coady, O'Brien, Liberato Cacace and George Thomson among Wrexham's long list of new summer signings.
