Paris Saint-Germain will aim to continue a trophy-laden era when they face Toulouse in the Trophee des Champions on Wednesday, January 3.

Luis Enrique's side are five points clear of Nice at the top of Ligue 1 and begin their Coupe de France campaign away to sixth-tier Revel later this month.

A tricky test against Real Sociedad awaits in the UEFA Champions League, with PSG having blown hot and cold on their latest attempt to translate domestic dominance into European glory.

Conquering Europe remains their primary goal: despite dominating French football for more than a decade, the Champions League remains elusive. The closest PSG have come was in 2020, when they reached the final but were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich.

Here, The Sporting News breaks down the trophy haul of one of European football's modern heavyweights as they look to add the Trophee des Champions to their list of silverware.

PSG trophies won

Below is a breakdown of the trophies Paris Saint-Germain have won in their history.

PSG domestic trophies won

Less than 16 years on from their formation in 1970, PSG won their first Ligue 1 title. They already had a pair of Coupe de France successes under their belt but Gerard Houllier coming in to succeed Georges Peyroche as head coach helped to give them the edge as they finished 1985/86 as champions, three points clear of Nantes.

In 1993/94, a team boasting the dazzling talents of David Ginola, George Weah and Rai romped to glory by eight points from reigning European champions Marseille.

Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) bought PSG in 2011, radically altering the club's standing on the domestic and world stage. After being pipped in a thrilling title race by outsiders Montpellier in 2011/12, PSG were French champions in 2012/13.

That success was the first of an ongoing run of nine titles in 11 seasons, PSG's dominance only punctuated by Monaco and Lille in 2016/17 and 2020/21 respectively.

By contrast, they were cup specialists prior to the QSI buyout, with a haul of eight Coupes de France swollen to 14 post-2011. Success in both of these competitions has helped to yield 11 Trophee des Champions successes.

PSG stacked their haul of the now-defunct Coupe de la Ligue, lifting it six times between 2013/14 and 2019/20 for nine overall. They are historically the most successful team in all four domestic competitions.

PSG European trophies won

Bruno Ngotty scored the only goal for PSG to defeat Rapid Wien 1-0 in the final of the 1995/96 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.

They were beaten 1-0 by Barcelona in the following season's final courtesy of a Ronaldo penalty. Two years later, the competition was wound up and domestic cup winners qualified for the revamped UEFA Cup.

PSG beat Roberto Baggio's Brescia on away goals to be one of three Intertoto Cup winners in 2001 and this remains the sum of their European honours.

Have PSG won the Champions League?

Despite persistent lofty expectations over the past decade, the Champions League has continued to elude PSG.

They were beaten finalists in 2020, going down 1-0 to Bayern Munich as their former academy star Kingsley Coman scored decisively. The following year the Parisians were eliminated by Manchester City in the semifinals.
