PSG are set to cash in if Hugo Ekitike leaves Eintracht Frankfurt this summer. The French club included a 20% sell-on clause when they sold the striker to Frankfurt in 2024. Now, with top Premier League clubs circling, that clause could pay off in a big way.

Chelsea and Manchester United are both pushing hard for the 22-year-old, who had a breakout season in Germany, scoring 22 goals and adding 12 assists in all competitions, helping Frankfurt qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The Bundesliga side, however, has no plans to sell unless their price is met. “We don’t have to sell Ekitike,” Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche told Wiesbadener Kurier. “If the price isn’t right, then he’ll just stay with us.”

On Monday (June 9), transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said Chelsea remain interested but haven’t made progress yet.

“Hugo Ekitike is really appreciated by Chelsea; he’s a player they really like, but at the moment the negotiation is not closed at all because Chelsea were asking for information from Eintracht Frankfurt about the player, and their answer was that his asking price is €100m,” Romano said.

“So, that is the price tag from Eintracht, and at the moment, that’s too expensive for Chelsea. Let’s see if the price changes or if Chelsea will decide to change their strategies later in the market.”

United enter race, Liverpool also monitoring

Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported Thursday that Manchester United have contacted Frankfurt directly and gathered details about a potential move. Chelsea and Liverpool are still in the mix, but United are now fully involved.

According to various reports Chelsea could return with an offer between £65 and 70 million.

Frankfurt, though, want closer to €100 million, about £85 million. If a deal is reached, PSG could pocket up to £17 million.

PSG signed Ekitike from Reims for around £30 million but sold him last year after a mixed spell in Paris. Now, with Premier League money on the table, his next move could benefit them.
