Portugal topped Group H en route to the Round of 16 and Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. have been paired against Switzerland in their first knockout test.

The Swiss produced an impressive 3-2 win over Serbia to secure their spot in the next phase in Qatar, as they finished runners-up behind Brazil in Group G.

Ronaldo won his first international title with Portugal at Euro 2016, but there is a growing sense at this being his final shot at a World Cup, as he turns 38 in 2023.

Switzerland have reached the Round of 16 for a third successive World Cup but they have not made it to the quarterfinals since hosting the tournament back in 1954.

Portugal vs Switzerland odds, best bets, predictions

Ronaldo's push for a World Cup title is the key sub-plot heading into this game but Portugal's stumble against South Korea  showed their weaknesses.

Switzerland have shown a solid ability to perform on the World Cup stage and this game could potentially be the chance for a real shock from Yakin's charges.
