Nico Williams had some pressure on him for Athletic Club's opener as many were curious to see how the man who snubbed Barcelona for his boyhood club would perform.

Perform he did as he had his fingerprints all over this game. He seemed a bit off to start as his dribbling and touch wasn't quite there.

Then, in the 35th minute, he won a penalty from a clumsy Juanlu challenge and converted it himself from the spot.

In the 43rd minute, Nico dribbled past two defenders and whipped in a cross that was deflected and fell to Maroan Sannadi for an easy tap-in. He won't get credit for an assist but he basically created that goal.

It looked like smooth sailing from here for Athletic Club with their 2-0 lead heading into the half.

Sevilla came roaring back with a stunning goal from starman Dodi Lukebakio in the 60th minute followed by a gorgeous curler from midfielder Lucien Agoume.

Nico Williams refused to leave without the three points though as he got into Sevilla's box and crossed it to new signing Robert Navarro.

He exited the pitch in the 83rd minute to a loud round of applause which showed how strong the connection is between Nico and Athletic Club. He also kissed the badge when he scored which should put an end to rumors of a transfer anytime soon.

Many wondered how Nico would perform this season and he's started with a strong performance that showed why Barcelona were desperate for him.
