The FA Cup Fifth Round saw eight of 16 teams move one step closer to the final at Wembley Stadium on June 3 with four Premier League sides and four lower-division clubs advancing.

Both Manchester clubs have made it to the quarterfinals, as defending Premier League champions Man City handled Bristol City, and Manchester United came from behind to down West Ham in an all-Premier League battle. Fulham beat Leeds in the other showdown of top-flight clubs.

There will be four lower division sides in the quarterfinals with Burnley joining fellow Championship sides Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers from the second-tier Championship, while Grimsby Town incredibly made it to the final eight from fourth-tier League Two.

Of course, defending FA Cup holders Liverpool are not here after falling to Brighton on the south coast in the Fourth Round.

Here's all you need to know about the Fifth Round of the FA Cup following the draw held on January 30.

Teams in FA Cup 5th Round

The 16 teams that survived the FA Cup Fourth Round went into the draw for the Round of 16.

Each Fourth Round winner had already been assigned a ball number for purposes of the draw. Manchester City, Leeds United and Leicester City were the first teams to advance to the Fifth Round, all hailing from the Premier League while Manchester United joined them after beating Reading.

National League side Wrexham were in the hat after they drew 3-3 at home to Sheffield United, forcing a replay where the Blades needed stoppage time goals from Billy Sharp and Sander Berge to eke out a gripping 3-1 win.

When was the FA Cup 5th Round?

The FA announced at the start of the season that the 2022/23 FA Cup Fifth Round would commence the week of Feb. 27, 2023, with the draw taking place on Monday, January 30.

The matches were ultimately scheduled for Tuesday, February 28 and Wednesday, March 1.

The change to a midweek fixture window for the tournament's Round of 16 was required due to a backlog of domestic matches following the 2022 World Cup.

BBC and ITV held the rights to televise these matches in the UK, with the eight games spread across two days.

Are there replays in the FA Cup 5th Round?

The fifth round of the 2022/23 FA Cup did not include replays. It was the first stage of the tournament that did not carry the option of a replay for drawn matches.

The FA has come under criticism over its insistence to keep replays in earlier rounds (1st through 4th Rounds), with plans in place to remove them in future tournaments.

Replays have slowly been phased out of the FA Cup. They were previously scrapped for the FA Cup Fifth Round in 2018/19, for the quarter-finals in 2016/17, for semi-finals in 1999/2000 and for the final in 1998/99.
