Canada vs Morocco World Cup lineups, starting 11 for Group F match at Qatar 2022 image

Morocco need only a point to reach the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time since 1986 when they take on Canada in Group F.

Walid Regragui's side were deserved 2-0 winners over Belgium following their opening draw with Croatia and are in prime position to progress.

Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies made history by scoring Canada's first World Cup goal last time out, but John Herdman's entertaining side went down 4-1 to the 2018 runners-up and are playing only for pride after two defeats from two.

Below are the confirmed lineups for both teams based on the latest news leading up to the match.

Canada vs Morocco lineups

This will be the last lineup Herdman picks at the 2022 World Cup, where he has made a stir, but he intends to still be in the post when Canada serve as co-hosts in 2026.

"Eleven years of work in this country and I've been pioneering for a long period of time, and you'll not find anyone as passionate as I am about this program or about these players or about this staff," he told his pre-match news conference.

"You'll not find one as passionate who wants to take the country to that next level. And you'll not meet anyone that's experienced this moment with this team — and the learning that I'll take from this to take into the next one.”

Morocco boss Regragui is keen to pass any credit on to those who will make his team sheet as the country stand on the cusp of a historic triumph.

"There are other coaches that like to make you think that they're magicians, they're the ones, they're puppeteers," he told reporters. "The players are the ones that make the coach and not the other way around."

Canada confirmed starting 11

(4-3-3, right to left): 1. Borjan (GK) — 2. Johnston, 5. Vitoria, 4. Miller, 3. Adekugbe — 10. Hoilett, 14. Kaye, 21. Osorio — 11. Buchanan, 17. Larin, 19. Davies

Interestingly, Jonathan David drops out of the lineup with all-time leading scorer Cyle Larin entering the fray. David, a young star with Lille, has not been as dangerous this tournament as he has proven for club and country in the past.

Herdman is without Stephen Eustaquio as he hopes to sign off in Qatar with a strong performance, as the midfielder came off injured vs. Croatia. He's replaced in midfield by Mark-Anthony Kaye, as captain Atiba Hutchinson also drops out due to fitness issues.

Sam Adekugbe and Jonathan Osorio enter the starting lineup after coming off the bench in the two previous matches.

Head coach John Herdman earns his 50th cap for the national team in this match, in what has the potential to be his final game in charge of Canada. If so, what a ride it's been.

Morocco confirmed starting 11

Morocco confirmed starting lineup (4-3-3, right to left): 1. Bounou (GK) — 2. Hakimi, 5. Aguerd, 6. Saiss, 3. Mazraoui — 8. Ounahi, 4. Amrabat, 11. Sabiri — 7. Ziyech, 19. En-Nesyri, 17. Boufal.

Morocco head coach Walid Regragui was though to possibly stick with an unchanged starting lineup, with fullback pair Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui both passed fit, but first-choice goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was a possible miss after a last-moment withdrawal ahead of the Belgium win.

Yet with lineups confirmed, Bounou comes back into the lineup, a boost for Morocco. In addition, Abdelhamid Sabiri is also inserted into midfield, replacing Selim Amallah.
