Brazil have endured bitter rivals Argentina hoovering up silverware lately and will hope to make amends at Copa America 2024.
The Selecao won their ninth continental crown on home soil in 2019 and the tournament returned to Brazil two years later, with games played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It meant home advantage did not weigh as heavily as it should and Angel Di Maria's goal proved to the the difference at the Maracana as Lionel Messi's long wait for a first senior international trophy ended.
But there was a packed house in Rio in November 2023 as Brazil went down to another 1-0 defeat, with Nicolas Otamendi the Argentina matchwinner. It was a result that made an unwanted piece of history as, remarkably, Brazil's first-ever home loss in a World Cup qualifier.
Fernando Diniz's side are winless in their past four qualifiers, losing the most recent three to lengthen the shadow of Neymar's ACL injury that places his participation in the Copa America in jeopardy.
Nevertheless, the Copa draw might come at the perfect time — offering a chance to dream of success in the near future at the expense of focusing on an undesirable present. Below we pick through Brazil's potential path to glory.
Brazil Copa America 2024 group
As the next-highest-ranked CONMEBOL team after reigning champions Argentina, Brazil were seeded for the draw and automatically dropped into Group D.
Brazil were drawn against Ecuador out of Pot 2, who they have yet to play in the current CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying cycle. They were then pitted against Venezuela who got an 85th minute equalizer to draw 1-1 with Brazil back in October of 2023.
Finally, they pulled the toughest available Pot 4 opponent in Jamaica who surprised Canada with a comeback in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals to secure automatic qualification.

Brazil Copa America 2024 group stage fixtures, schedule
Brazil will play their entire 2024 Copa America journey on the west coast, opening their group stage slate with a tough match against Jamaica at the home of the Los Angeles Rams, SoFi Stadium.
They travel a bit east to meet Venezuela in Las Vegas, before returning back to California to face Ecuador at Levi's Stadium, the home of the San Francisco 49ers. That's a very friendly travel slate, with the bonus of playing in some gorgeous new venues.

Brazil Copa America 2024 path to the final
If Brazil progress as group winners, they will face the runners-up from Group C, from which the winners will be paired with the Group B runners-up in the quarterfinals. However, if they finish second, they would face the Group C winner.
The United States are the seeded team in Group C, drawn alongside Uruguay out of Pot 2. Either of those teams could conceivably win the group, which would avoid the Group D winner. Competing against those two favored sides in Group C are Panama and Bolivia, who will be thought likely to fall short of a knockout stage spot.
