Adidas will spend $43 million over the next 10 years on the player it thinks will be the next soccer superstar, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Outbidding world competitor Nike, adidas signed the young Frenchman to the eight-figure endorsement deal that will make him the face of the new laceless ACE 16 PureControl boots.

According to The Mirror, the deal "represents a blow to Nike."

Pogba joins an adidas marketing team that already includes Lionel Messi, the most notable among others, and goes head to head against a Nike side starring Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.

Pogba, however, has a back story that includes being rejected as a teen by powerful Manchester United only to turn himself into one of the world's top talents — known for his playmaking skills and passing ability — after his transfer in 2012 to Juve.
