It is still unclear when FC Barcelona will return to play at the Spotify Camp Nou since the team has been spending the past two seasons at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium. While the team waits, the club is looking for solutions that can bring in more revenue.

In a turn of events, Barcelona may potentially play a league game abroad as their proposal to play their match against Villarreal in the United States was approved by the Spanish Football Federation.

Villarreal vs Barcelona is scheduled for December 20 in La Liga at Villarreal's Estadio de la Ceramica. The only approvals left are from FIFA, CONCACAF, and the US Soccer Federation to finalize the La Liga match in Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium.

Many question the decision to have an official league game abroad, as fans who own season tickets may be affected by this change. The benefit of this venue change is financial gains for Barcelona, which is struggling with financial regulations in La Liga.

New reports suggest that the match held in Miami could see Barcelona earn more than their regular stadium attendance revenue at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.

FC Barcelona could earn up to $7 million for Villarreal Match in USA

According to RAC1, Barcelona could earn between $5.8 million and nearly $7 million in revenue for the match against Villarreal in Miami. The Hard Rock Stadium holds 65,300 fans for football matches in comparison to Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium's capacity of 55,926 fans.

Barcelona's average matchday earnings over the season at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium are around $3.2 million.

The record-breaking revenue from a single match at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium is $16 million during an El Clásico game against Real Madrid last season.

Those numbers are expected to be higher with the newly renovated Spotify Camp Nou, which is set to have a 105,000 capacity.
