Here's one example of why we like to wager on football games:

When the favored Colts covered the 3-point spread in a 40-24 win at the Giants on Monday night, it sent a $5 parlay bettor back to the window to collect a cool $8,500 at the Gold Ranch Casino in Verdi, Nevada.

Indy was the bettor’s last play on two separate winning $5 10-team parlays, which paid off at 850-to-1 (view a photo of the winning tickets right here).

He correctly picked a total of 15 games (13 college and two NFL) across his two tickets.  He played Boston College, Colorado State, Houston, the Chiefs and Colts on both tickets.

The largest half-point parlay card offered by William Hill, which operates the sports book at Gold Ranch, is a 12-teamer, which pays 3,000-to-1. Only one of those has cashed so far this season, William Hill’s Michael Grodsky said in an email.
