The Oilers were less than 30 seconds away from taking Game 1 and beginning their first-round series up 1-0. The Kings had other ideas.

Los Angeles captain Anze Kopitar scored with 17 seconds left in regulation to force overtime before Alex Iafallo completed the comeback win with his game-winning tally in the extra frame, giving the Kings the early series lead.

"It’s frustrating," Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl said on blowing a two-goal lead in the third period. "We’ve got to be more mature than that. We’ve got to lock that down."

Game 1 losses aren't exactly unfamiliar territory for Edmonton. The club has dropped its last six series-opening contests, including a loss in Game 1 last year to the Kings before winning the 2022 first-round matchup in seven games.

With Game 2 on deck tonight, it's a chance for the Oilers to rebound and even the series. Meanwhile, the Kings are in the driver's seat, looking to go up 2-0 before heading back to L.A. for Games 3 and 4.
