No one is doubting Connor McDavid's place amongst the NHL's royalty. He is the greatest player on the planet, and there could be a day when he moves himself into the conversation as the greatest of all time. It seems like every season, McDavid is setting some mark that moves him closer and closer to that title, and he did it again in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final.

McDavid recorded the 150th point of his playoff career with his dazzling goal in the third period. It ended up being irrelevant to the game's outcome, but he did become the third-fastest player ever to reach that mark. McDavid did it in 95 games, while the two ahead of him were Wayne Gretzky (68 games) and Mario Lemieux (86 games), via NHL Public Relations

If McDavid heard about the stat, he'd most likely say that it doesn't matter to him, as he is still lagging behind those two legends in one crucial stat. While McDavid hasn't been able to win a Stanley Cup, Gretzky won four, and Lemieux won two.

No one is counting McDavid out in this postseason yet. The Edmonton Oilers rallied for three straight wins against the Florida Panthers in last year's final, and they are confident they can steal one on the road in Game 6 to return home for a crucial Game 7.

McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were quiet in Game 5. Still, if they can find a way to break through Florida's suffocating defense over the next two games, they'd cement themselves as a legendary duo with the supporting cast surrounding them.
