Senators forward Mike Hoffman is asking almost double what the team will be offering a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for Thursday, CBC Sports reported.

Hoffman, who had 27 goals and 21 assists in 2014-15, is asking for $3.4 million after finishing sixth in Calder Trophy voting.

As Pro Hockey Talk noted, the vast majority of arbitration cases are settled before hearings, but Sens teammate Alex Chiasson’s is the only one to be decided by an arbitrator thus far this offseason.

Chiasson was awarded a one-year contract worth $1.2 million, about $1.275 million less than the forward reportedly was seeking.
