Terry McLaurin's game-winning touchdown in the final seconds to beat the Dallas Cowboys 23-19 on Sunday accomplished more than ending the Washington Commanders' regular season in style.

It gave McLaurin sole possession of the all-time Washington record for receiving touchdowns in a season.

McLaurin's 13th scoring grab broke a tie between him, Ricky Sanders (1988), Jerry Smith (1967), Charley Taylor (1966) and Hugh Taylor, all of whom had accumulated 12 receiving touchdowns for the franchise in a season.

McLaurin capped off the most productive season of his six-year NFL career, in which his previous high in touchdowns was seven as a rookie in 2019. He additionally accumulated 1,096 receiving yards, the fifth-straight season he has cracked at least 1,000.

Earlier this week, McLaurin was announced to the Pro Bowl roster for the 2024-25 season. It's his second selection and his first time making the initial roster rather than as an alternate.

From the moment he first got drafted in D.C., McLaurin has been a beacon of consistent high-end production on a team that has often lacked it elsewhere. He's waited a long time for the opportunity to have a connection like he has found this season with rookie QB Jayden Daniels, and it has elevated his game to new heights.

Yet it's also fitting that for a player who has proven throughout his career to be quarterback-proof, his record-breaking haul came from backup Marcus Mariota. McLaurin has more than earned the right to stand alone as possessing the most productive scoring season by a WR in Commanders franchise history, and the honor is now officially his.
