The relationship between new QB Aaron Rodgers and new wideout DK Metcalf will go a long way toward determining how this season goes for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And in the early stages of building chemistry together, anything can help, even a toilet.

The Steelers hold training camp at Saint Vincent College in LaTrobe, Pennsylvania, and so the players stay in dorms.

Rodgers and Metcalf have rooms right next to each other, and in their setup, that means they share a bathroom.

Yahoo's Jori Epstein shared the details on what that means for the two passing game stars:

“The toilet is super loud,” Metcalf told Epstein. “So he was like, ‘Yeah, at night, if we got to piss, just don’t flush the toilet.’ I was like, ‘All right, bet.’”

The nightly urge indeed overcame Metcalf around 9:30 Wednesday night so the receiver texted his quarterback to ask: “You asleep yet?”

Rodgers confirmed he was awake.

“All right, bet,” Metcalf texted back, “I’m about to flush the toilet.”

And flush he did.

That's how two teammates work together.

It's a pretty silly anecdote, to be sure, but it can still inform.

For one, the Steelers chose to set Rodgers and Metcalf up like this. They know what that pairing means.

It also shows that even on something simple, the QB-WR duo can come up with a solution. That's never something to be taken for granted.

So if Rodgers and Metcalf improvise to score a touchdown at some point this season, maybe their Saint Vincent College dorm toilet will deserve a bit of the credit.
