There aren't many former St. Louis Rams left in the NFL, but the Pittsburgh Steelers just signed one of them.
That's right, 10 years after the Rams last played a game there, there are still some players on active rosters who can say they played for the St. Louis Rams.
Long snapper Jake McQuaide is once again one of them after joining the Steelers' roster on Monday in the wake of the injury to long snapper Christian Kuntz, who's expected to miss significant time with a sternum injury.
Along with McQuaide, Rams tackle Rob Havenstein, Tennessee Titans punter Johnny Hekker and Chicago Bears quarterback Case Keenum are the only former St. Louis Rams on active rosters in the NFL, at least as far as we can tell.
If there are more, chances are it isn't many more.
That number is actually down from last season, when safety Rodney McLeod and kicker Greg Zuerlein were also on the list. McLeod has since retired and Zuerlein hasn't been picked up by another team since his release from the New York Jets.
McQuaide spent a total of 10 seasons with the Rams, five of which were spent in St. Louis (2011-2015). Of the other active former St. Louis Rams, that is the longest stint, just beating out Hekker (four years).
McQuaide played in seven games in 2024, four with the Minnesota Vikings and three with the Miami Dolphins.
He has a good chance to stick with the Steelers for an extended period of time, as Kuntz could miss "several weeks to months," according to a report.
