For the fifth straight season, the Pittsburgh Steelers will open the year with a different quarterback under center.
The illustrious franchise that has had stability for much of its existence will pass the baton to the soon-to-be 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers in the organization's latest attempt to be mediocre.
Despite Rodgers coming off a disastrous stint in New York, he showed enough flashes at the end of his tenure to suggest he could succeed with a change of scenery.
Even with the addition of DK Metcalf, the weapons around the aging Rodgers cast justified doubt about his ability to reclaim his MVP form.
While appearing on a recent episode of "The Herd," former Pro Bowl wide receiver Greg Jennings blasted his ex-Packers teammate and his squad's chances to compete in 2025.
"I'm not that high on the Steelers; in fact, I'm not high on them at all," Jennings said. "A lot of it has to do with the fact that he doesn't have what he needs to be successful. Rodgers has lost the ability to extend plays, and he doesn't have the playmakers on the outside he once had. He needs that. He's not a terrible quarterback, but he won't have consistency at this stage of his career."
With this depleted offensive roster, Rodgers won't be able to tread water. He has to be at least above average to survive in the daunting AFC North.
At his age, it's unlikely he magically regains form, but if anyone can, it's a four-time MVP.
This year could define his legacy or put another wart on a once-flawless resume.
