Saquon Barkley enjoyed the best game this season by someone playing his former team, and the Philadelphia Eagles won their second straight by beating the New York Giants on Sunday, 28-3.

The defending NFC East champs are 4-2, one half game behind Washington, who they play in four games. But, as Bill Belichick once said, “It’s on to Cincinnati,” where the Eagles go next.

A look around at some of postgame local media coverage from the win over New York.

Tim McManus, ESPN: Barkley silences boo birds

"To be honest, I'm so happy this game's over," Barkley said. "I don't think I should get -- besides today -- any more questions about the Giants. But like I always said, I'm thankful for that organization. They're the team that drafted me. I still got nothing but love and respect for all the guys over there, but I'm happy to be an Eagle.

"Most importantly, we got a win today in the division against a division rival and now it's on to the next one."

Jeff McLane, Philadelphia Inquirer: Barkley sees jersey in flames

“Barkley didn’t need Giants fans to light his match, but he was ready to ignite more than just opposing defenders on short-distance runs after seeing his old uniform on fire. He set the tone by pummeling safety Dane Belton on the first drive, but it wasn’t until he broke off a 55-yard run that the Eagles offense finally got moving.”

Mike Sielski, Philadelphia Inquirer: Hurts a calming, stabilizing presence

“He was correct all around. There is a standard for Hurts and the Eagles, and maybe now, nearly five years into his career with them, it’s time to adjust that standard. To lower it some. He was excellent last week against the Browns, maybe the best part of an otherwise unimpressive game from the Eagles offense, and he was clean and efficient and wasn’t called on to do too much against the Giants: 10-for-14, 114 passing yards — 89 of which went to one guy, Brown — a couple of QB-sneak TDs.

Mostly, his day’s assignment was basic: Don’t make a crushing and inexcusable mistake. Give the ball to Barkley. Get out of the way.”

Steve Politi, NJ.com: Barkley torches his old team

“The prevailing sentiment from fans seems to be this: Barkley was free to leave, just not to leave to the team that was going to pay him the most and give him the best shot to reach the Super Bowl. Raiders or Vikings? Fine. Eagles? No way.”

Reuben Frank, NBC Sports Philadelphia: Eagles grades by position

“It was a week full of criticism for Nick Sirianni but he came through it with a strong win against a division rival. Do the Eagles want to start faster and finally score points in the first quarter? Absolutely. That’s the knock in this game. But eventually, Kellen Moore got the offense rolling behind the strength of the run game and the defense didn’t give up a touchdown for a second straight game. Most importantly, though, is that the Eagles responded and got a huge win playing for Sirianni.”

Martin Frank, Delaware News Journal:  What's overlooked about Eagles' potential

“And that brings us to Lesson No. 2, something the Eagles have been waiting to see all season, and really, going back to the 2022 season. That was when the Eagles beat opponents by the run when the other team was determined to stop the pass, or vice versa when the opponent loaded up to stop the run.”
