Are Philadelphia Eagles fans the best trash talkers in NFL? Panthers veteran thinks so image

Carolina Panthers pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney is playing for his sixth NFL team this season. That’s 18.75% of the league.

He’s only played at the Linc in Philadelphia as a visitor throughout his 11-year pro career, and you could say he's come to appreciate the passion of Eagles fans during his travels.

Clowney let his true feelings about the Philly faithful be known this week, telling reporters (with a laugh): “We can’t stand their fans.”

“But, nah, Philly fans? They love their team,” Clowney said. “That’s all I can tell you about Philly fans. They love their team, and they throw stuff at you, they do everything. They talk the most junk out of any fans I’ve ever dealt with throughout my career.”

That may be a backhanded compliment from Clowney, but it’s a compliment nonetheless. Philly has one of the more passionate fanbases in professional sports, and the fans should be wearing Clowney’s comments as a badge of honor this week.

The Eagles and their fans alike will need to bring the energy for Sunday’s game (noon CST, FOX). The Panthers (3-9) come to the Linc as 12.5-point underdogs. This is historically a sleepy spot in the NFL, with Philly coming off a huge road win over Baltimore and a tough Pittsburgh Steelers team on deck.

Philly should be focused on showing up in full force, and the fans could use Clowney’s comments as a little extra juice on Sunday.
