Week 3 Fantasy Rankings: Kickers image

We're now heading into Week 3, and this is generally when things start to change a bit in the kicker rankings. Fantasy football is highly unpredictable by nature, but the kicker position is the one spot where rankings really don't mean a lot. Kicker performance can change rapidly based on the weather, the team's performance on offense, and just general game flow. Still, we decided to throw our Week 3 fantasy kicker rankings together to attempt to predict the unpredictable and help you choose the right kicker to dominate this week.

By Week 3, the kicker rankings are totally different than they looked in the preseason. By now, we have two weeks of team performance and data at our fingertips. Generally, teams stick with the kicker they drafted for at least two weeks before contemplating a change. Because of the volatile nature of the position, a poor Week 1 performance can be tolerated. However, if the same guy throws up a dud in Week 2, he's as good as gone, and that leaves owners scouring the waiver wire for a replacement.

Week 3 Rankings:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST

It's hard to recommend playing a kicker based solely on matchups, as sometimes they won't get a chance to kick anything but extra points. And in bad matchups, sometimes they'll nail a long field goal and make the whole play worth it. So, for kickers, we just like to look at which players are on the best offenses, which guys are playing the weakest teams, and which guys have the best weather in their matchups -- or better yet, are playing in a domed stadium.

Note: We'll be updating our rankings throughout the week if weather or injuries look like they will be major factors. And if you're looking for more analysis, find out how you'll lose in Week 3 or listen to the Week 3 preview podcast.
