The Patriots had a dominant performance in Week 1 of the preseason, defeating the Commanders 48-18 at home.
Although it is just preseason, it's encouraging to see some progress for New England after back-to-back 4-13 campaigns. The team still needs work, but it seems that the quarterback problem is solved.
Drake Maye is New England's quarterback of the future after he earned a Pro Bowl nomination in his rookie season. Of course, there's a chance he regresses, but it seems that Maye will be conducting the offense in the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, the Vikings are entering a new era, also with a quarterback from the 2024 draft class. J.J. McCarthy sat out last year due to injury, but he's expected to be the starter for the Vikings this season.
Minnesota had a great regular season with a resurgent year from Sam Darnold, so there are certainly some high expectations for McCarthy heading into his first season on the field.
The Patriots and Vikings will play each other in second week of the 2025 preseason. Both teams are currently 1-0.
