Football diehards, the season is about to begin.

The 2023 NFL preseason kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 3 and is set to run for three weeks, giving fans a buildup of excitement before the start of the regular season.

For the most part, preseason is an opportunity for young guys to get a chance to shine, as players battle for a spot on the 53-man roster. While some clubs will give their starters action, a majority of the games will be spent using backups, third-stringers and other depth players.

This year marks the third consecutive campaign that there are 49 games set to be played, as preseason action was shortened from four weeks to three ahead of the 2021 season.

NFL live streams for 2023 preseason

Streaming NFL regular-season games can be a bit of a pain, considering the packages with national programs that limits access to live streams.

It's a lot easier to stream in the preseason.

There are only a handful of nationally televised contests during the preseason. Those networks will carry the exclusive streams of those contests, but the other 40-plus games will be available on a couple of platforms.

Here is how fans can catch preseason action through live streams in 2023:

National broadcasts

Even preseason games require national broadcast. At least some of them do.

This year, four of the preseason contests will be broadcast on national networks and one will be carried on Amazon Prime. ESPN, Fox, NBC and CBS will carry one game each.

ESPN will live stream games on the ESPN app and its website; NBC's stream can be accessed via the NBC Sports appPeacock or its website; CBS will live stream games on the CBS Sports app and on its website. All providers will require users to sign in with TV provider credentials.

Meanwhile, NFL Network will broadcast 23 preseason games in 2023, all of which will be able to stream on a regional basis in the NFL app or via the NFL's official website.

NFL Network will also carry replays of every preseason game that will air periodically throughout the months of August and September before the start of the season.

NFL+

NFL+ is streaming service that the NFL launched in 2022 to replace NFL Game Pass. It will offer access to all live, out-of-market preseason games; live, local broadcasts of regular and postseason contests; and both full-game replays as well as condensed game recaps.

NFL+ will cost just $39.99 yearly compared to the $99.99 price of Game Pass. It also comes with a seven-day free trial.

Fubo

Every preseason game broadcast nationally or on NFL Network will also be available to stream on Fubo, which comes with a free trial.

Much like NFL+, Fubo offers access to original NFL Network programming. That includes shows like "Total Access," "NFL GameDay" and "Good Morning Football" in addition to programming from other networks.

DAZN

Viewers in Canada can stream NFL games via DAZN with a subscription.
