Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season provided viewers with an action-packed -- albeit light-scoring -- season debut. Now, the league will move on to Week 2 and with it comes a fairly typical NFL Sunday schedule ... with one catch.

Usually, when all 32 teams play, there are 13 games that take place in the afternoon slate on an NFL Sunday. However, there will only be 12 of them in Week 2, as ESPN is getting a chance to broadcast a "Monday Night Football" doubleheader to close the week.

Per usual, the Sunday afternoon slate will be split evenly between CBS and Fox, which own the rights to the NFL's Sunday afternoon package. Each network will get to broadcast six games, but CBS will be broadcasting in both the early- and late-afternoon games in each market; Fox will only broadcast in one of those time slots across each TV market.

The two networks will alternate getting preferred treatment week to week as the season goes along.

The split is relatively equal between the networks in Week 2, but CBS still got the slightly better package this week. The network will get to feature the Jaguars vs. Chiefs game in the early window and also has the Bills-Raiders game in that time slot. The late game has lost a bit of luster after Aaron Rodgers' injury, but Cowboys vs. Jets still has the potential to be a fun battle between two of the league's best defenses.

As for Fox, their focus appears to be on two NFC games from the early window. The Falcons vs. Packers game will be available in the most markets among Fox's six games, but the Lions vs. Seahawks contest will also get some attention, especially after Detroit beat Kansas City in Week 1.

Below are the full NFL coverage maps for Week 2, plus a list of major TV markets and the CBS and Fox games that will be presented in each on Sunday.

TV schedule for NFL Week 2 games

Below are the Sunday afternoon games that will be broadcast regionally by CBS and Fox. "Sunday Night Football" will feature an intradivisional clash between the Dolphins and Patriots in Week 1. Alabama quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones will each look to lead their respective squads to wins.

"Monday Night Football" will be the first of three doubleheaders for the program. The Saints and Panthers will square off in Bryce Young's first home start while the Browns and Steelers will do battle in an AFC North clash that could be a defensive battle. It will be particularly interesting to see how star edge rushers T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett fare in that one, especially as Watt prepares to battle mammoth rookie tackle Dawand Jones.
