The Lions are set to lock horns against the Dolphins in their third preseason clash on Saturday, with both sides bringing plenty of intrigue to the table.
Detroit boasts a thunder-and-lightning backfield in Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, but Miami’s defensive front isn’t exactly a soft touch.
With Zach Sieler and ex-Lion Benito Jones holding down the middle, and Bradley Chubb alongside Emmanuel Ogbah (or Robinson, if you like the newer spin) patrolling the edges, the Dolphins have the muscle to make running lanes scarce. After all, they ranked eighth in the league against the run last season.
Miami’s own ground game, however, has already hit a bump in the road, losing backup Alexander Mattison to a season-ending neck injury in the opener. That leaves speedy Devon Achane as the main man, with Jaylen Wright offering a second-year burst out of Tennessee.
Detroit’s defensive line will have its hands full trying to contain Achane’s breakaway gear, but with their sturdy front, the Lions won’t be easy to push around.
